An unmissable opportunity

Watch this video to see why so many artists were keen to bee a part of the Buzz!

Buzz in the City Artists

We are delighted to have received hundreds of designs from established and emerging artists keen to showcase their unique work to thousands of visitors taking part on the trail this summer.

The shortlisting process has already begun and selected designs will be showcased at a design exhibition this February where each of our sponsors will have the chance to pick their favourite design for their bee sculpture!

How it works

Artists were invited to submit up to five designs for the bee and its honeycomb by Friday 31 January 2025.

Exhibition

Designs are presented to sponsors and project partners at a design exhibition held in February 2025.

Create

Artists whose designs are selected are given a giant bee sculpture to paint with their approved design.

Explore

The bee sculpture is displayed as part of the trail for 10 weeks from early July.

After the trail closes, each sculpture will be auctioned off to raise money for Farleigh Hospice who provide specialist palliative and end of life care and bereavement support, free of charge, to the local community in mid Essex.

Benefits of being an artist

Buzz in the City is set to be a huge attraction for both locals and visitors to Chelmsford this summer.

For commissioned artists, having their unique designs on our giant bee sculptures is a great way to raise their profile as an artist and reap all the benefits of being part of a high-profile art event.
